Join the WorldDenver Young Professsionals Ambassador Board for a meetup at the Day of African Culture on August 5th, hosted by the African Leadership Group and the Arvada Center! This incredible celebration of African culture will feature the designs of Oumou Sy, "Senegal's Queen of Couture," and music from Baaba Maal, one of the country's most celebrated musicians with opener Fata El Presidente.

YP Ambassador Board Members will be enjoying the free cultural celebrations at the Arvada Center Amphitheatre Plaza between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. before continuing on to the ticketed fashion show and concert later in the evening. Join our members for the meetup at any time! Just register for this event and you will receive a confirmation email with the link to purchase tickets and information on how to contact our board members once you arrive.

Tickets for the fashion show and concert start at $20. You are welcome to purchase your tickets independently on the Arvada Center website, but in order to receive email updates for this meetup, please register through the link on our website.

Event Schedule

3:00 p.m. | Community Celebration - Breaking Barriers and Building Bridges with a joyous celebration of music, food, drinks, games and much more on the Amphitheatre Plaza. Free to attend - no ticket needed! 

4:00 p.m. | VIP Reception

5:30 p.m. | The Fashion Designs of Oumou Sy - A free fashion show in the Arvada Center's Main Stage Theatre, featuring the work of internally known Senegalese designer Oumou Sy on multicultural models. Free to attend - ticket required. 

7:30 p.m. | Baaba Maal Concert - In the Arvada Center's beautiful Outdoor Amphitheatre, hear the music of Senegalese singer-songwriter Baaba Maal. One of Senegal's most famous musicians, you can hear his music on the Wakanda Forever sound track and on his recent (April 2023) album Being. With opener Fata El Presidente!
